NVivo 12 (Mac)

Version 12.2 — 9 October 2018

  • Added: The ability to transcribe audio and video files from NVivo with the automated transcription service NVivo Transcription.

  • Added: The ability to import and export codebooks in the Codebook Exchange Format (.qdc).

  • Added: The ability to search for items in a project such as files, folders, nodes, cases and queries.

  • Added: The ability to add Attributes and Attribute Values to Concept Maps.

  • Added: The ability to generate coding comparison queries for datasets; character, sentence and paragraph calculations are supported.

  • Improved: When pasting shapes into Concept Maps using the context menu, the shapes are now positioned at the cursor and are in focus.

  • Improved: When coding using Drag and Drop, the mouse cursor now transitions to a hand to indicate when to begin dragging.

  • Improved: Column headers for Matrix Coding Queries and Node Matricies now wrap to display the entire heading.

  • Resolved: Text copied and pasted from an MS Word document was appearing in NVivo as an image.

Version 12.1 — 26 June 2018

  • Added: Auto coding that will create a case for each speaker in a transcript and code the response at that case.

  • Added: The ability to expand the Detail View to full screen.

  • Added: Concept Maps to explore and present connections in your data.

  • Added: A new feedback mechanism allowing you to suggest a new feature or to report a bug.

  • Added: Ability to automatically display the user interface language in French, German and Spanish (Mexico) based on the preferred language in Mac OS X System Preferences.

  • Improved: The adding and editing of case attributes and values can now be done in List View.

  • Improved: Mind maps have improved keyboard shortcuts, and the Options panel can now be hidden.

  • Improved: When reviewing a node containing content from datasets, you can now view the context or spread the coding to the surrounding words or entire cell.

  • Improved: Node matrix and matrix coding query results can now be exported in CSV format.

  • Improved: Automated download and installation of updates without leaving the application.

  • Resolved: Non-English characters were being duplicated in memo and text documents.

NVivo 12.0 (Mac) — 20 March 2018

  • Added: A crosstab query to show how coding is distributed across cases, and against attributes, with frequency totals.

  • Added: The ability to export numerical data into SPSS format.

  • Improved: The speed at which projects are loaded and project items are displayed.

  • Improved: A simplified terminology to better reflect the research process.

  • Improved: An enhanced Navigation View making your data more accessible.

  • Added: The ability to code images, charts and other non-selectable regions of PDF files.

  • Added: The ability to explore or present coded data using charts.

  • Added: The ability to create and export a codebook with a list of all codes and their descriptions.

  • Resolved: The inability to insert the date/time stamp into memos or text source.
