View server projects and see who is currently connected

To see the active server projects and the users who are currently working on them:

  1. In NVivo Server Manager, click the Projects tab.

The projects stored on the NVivo Server (and registered in the NVivo Server metabase) are listed along with their file sizes and project formats (for example, 12.0 or 11.1).

  1. Select a project from the Projects box.

The users that are currently connected to the selected project are displayed in the Connected Users box.

NOTE  If you cannot see a project in the list, which you expect to see (for example, a project you restored using SQL Server Management Studio), you may need to refresh the list of projects displayed in the Server Manager.

View detailed information about connected users

You can display information about currently connected users including the:

  • Account they are using to log on to the server

  • Time they connected to the server

  • Server groups they are members of (Project Creators, Administrators or Users)

  • Projects they are connected to

You can also see the number of CALs that are currently being consumed by connected users.

To access this information:

  1. In NVivo Server Manager, click the Users tab.

  2. On the left, click the Users tab.

Find the Project Owners for a particular server project

  1. In NVivo Server Manager, click the Projects tab.

The projects stored on the NVivo Server (and registered in the NVivo Server metabase) are listed.

  1. Select a project from the Projects box. The Project Owners for the selected project are displayed in the Project Owners box.

NOTE

  • Usually Project Owners are added to the project via the NVivo client, however if all existing Project Owners for a project are unavailable (for example, because people have left your organization), you can add another Project Owner to the project via NVivo Server Manager.
  • If you cannot see a project in the list, which you expect to see (for example, a project you restored using SQL Server Management Studio), you may need to refresh the list of projects displayed in the Server Manager.

Refresh the list of projects displayed in the Server Manager

The Projects tab of the Server Manager displays all projects that are registered in the NVivo Server metabase. If you manually restore a project using SQL Server Management Studio, the project is not automatically registered in the metabase. When you refresh the project's list, the register of projects in the metabase is rebuilt.

To refresh the project list:

  1. Open the NVivo Server Manager.

  2. Click the Projects tab.

  3. Click Refresh.

  4. Click OK to confirm.

NOTE When the metabase project register is rebuilt, any projects that have been manually deleted from the server using SQL Server Management Studio will be removed from the list. The projects list will show only projects currently available on the server.
