Understand what is installed
When you install NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1, the following components are installed (if required and not already present):

SQL Server 2017 Standard Edition
-
Microsoft .Net Framework 4.8
-
Windows Management Framework 4.0
You can install NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1 on a physical or virtual server device. It consists of the following software components:

SQL Server database instance—NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1 is installed with its own SQL Server database instance (QSRNVIVO9).

NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1 metabase—the metabase is installed in the QSRNVIVO9
-
NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1 Service—a Microsoft Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) service.

NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1 Manager—the NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1 Manager is a browser-based application that can be used to administer the NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1 which runs in Internet Information Services (IIS).
Security
During the installation process for NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1, you can choose to use an SSL certificate to host NVivo Collaboration Server Manager. This creates a secure connection (HTTPS) between NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1 Manager, NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1 and the NVivo client. It means that all communication is encrypted, ensuring privacy and data integrity.

Unsupported configurations
The following are not supported on the physical or virtual server hosting NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1:

Any other installation of SQL Server

Installation of NVivo Server on the same server
-
Installation of NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1 on a server that is functioning as a domain controller

Installation of any other software that uses SQL Server
-
SQL Server database mirroring
-
SQL Server
-
Deployment of the service and database components of NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1 to separate machines
Understand the network configuration required for Active Directory authentication
Active Directory authentication is supported as part of standard installation on a single domain. NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1 and the user accounts that will authenticate with NVivo should be on the same domain.
If you have custom requirements that differ to the standard installation, please contact NVivo Support to discuss further options.
Understand where files are installed
The NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1 application and database files are installed to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\QSR\NVivo for Teams

C:\ProgramData\QSR\NVivo for Teams
NVivo for Teams projects are stored in the following location (you can modify this location after installation):

C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Configure the firewall for NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1
Firewalls can block communication channels. There are some ports and applications that must not be blocked for NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1 to function correctly.
