If you choose to publish NVivo 11 Windows on Citrix

  2. Install NVivo 11 for Windows on the XenApp Server

  4. Publish NVivo 11 for Windows as an application in XenApp

NOTE Your users may also want to use NCapture—a free web browser extension that enables users to gather material from the web to import into NVivo 11 for Windows. We recommend that you install NCapture on the client computers rather than the XenApp server.

Extract the NVivo 11 Windows program files

NVivo needs the following prerequisite software which is included in the NVivo installer.

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2

  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package

  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Update 4 Redistributable Package

  • Microsoft SQL Server Express LocalDB 2014

  • Quicktime Player 7.7 (Not required for NVivo 11.2.1 or later)

If you plan to store the data centrally using NVivo Server, you do not need to install the SQL Server Express component that is bundled in the NVivo installer.

If the prerequisite software is already installed on your XenApp server, you do not need to install them again. You can extract the files from the NVivo installer so that you can install only the software that you need. If you need any of the prerequisite software, you can download it—refer toSoftware download locationsfor more information.

The MSI file and application files can be extracted from the NVivo 11 installer using one of the commands below. This creates a number of folders containing application files along with the QSR NVivo 11.msi file.

  • For 32-bit installations, use: NVivo11.x86.exe /a

  • For 64-bit installations, use: NVivo11.x64.exe /a
