NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1

Once you have finished installing the software, you must open the NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1 Manager and activate the server license.  Next you should consider where you want to store server projects and set up a backup schedule. Then you can give users access to NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1 so that they can start creating and working with server projects.

Start NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1 Manager and activate a license

Once you have finished installing the software, you must open the NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1 Manager and activate a license key.  

To start NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1 Manager

  1. In your Internet browser, enter the web address https://(Use http:// if you have chosen not to use a certificate.)

You may be prompted to enter your NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1 user credentials.

To activate the license key:

  1. Open NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1 Manager in your Internet browser—enter the web address https://<servername>/NVivoCollaborationServer(Use "http://" if you have chosen not to use a certificate.)

  2. On the left, click the Licenses tab.

  3. For the license you want to activate, click Activate.

  4. In the Activate License dialog box, enter the required details.

  5. Click Activate.

NOTE  If activation fails because you do not have an Internet connection, you can request an activation key from QSR International to activate your license—refer to Add and activate server license keys (How to activate if Internet activation fails) for more information.

Create a new connection from NVivo

  1. In NVivo, click the File tab, and then click Options.

  2. Click the Connections tab.

  1. Click the Add button.

  1. Enter your  connection details, and then click OK to close the Connection Properties dialog box.

  2. Click OK.

Consider project locations and backups

Before users connect to NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1 and start creating and working with NVivo projects, you might want to:

Give users access to NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1

Next, give users access by adding them to appropriate user groups, depending on the permissions they need.

Once users are added to user groups, they can set up a connection to NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1 from within the NVivo client and start creating and working with NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1 projects. The NVivo client Help provides instructions for setting up connections. Refer to Provide assistance to NVivo users for tips on helping users who are having difficulty accessing NVivo Collaboration Server Release 1 or opening server projects.
